Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from March of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He saved 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
